  • Effective Communication & Effective Listening

    Communication is a process by which information is exchanged between individuals through a common system of symbols, signs and behaviors.

    It takes both a sender and a receiver, and is the joint responsibility of both parties.

    Communication is an important ingredient in building an effective team in the workplace. Attend this training and you will be able to identify your own communication style and the style of others.

    The ability to understand the different communication styles will improve your opportunity to get your message across and will improve the receiver’s chances of understanding the intended meaning of your communication.

    The training will also look at the different types of non-verbal communication. 

    Listening is one of the most important communication skills. Without careful listening, messages often are misinterpreted and people do not feel valued or understood. Too often people take listening for granted and do not pay enough attention to the speaker. This training provides an activity in effective listening to assess your own listening skills.

  • Managing Emotions Under Pressure

    The way you feel and behave is never caused by the way others treat you or the events that happen to you.

    Your feelings are influenced by your interpretations and the way you behave is directly related to how you feel.

    Learning to change your behavior is one of the most important skills that you can develop. Attend this program and learn how to change your interpretations which change your feelings and ultimately change your behavior. Then you will be able to manage your emotions under pressure.

  • Let’s Talk About Anger Management

    Anger is a normal emotion and if expressed clearly and in moderation it can be beneficial.

    But anger is also a strong emotion and if not expressed appropriately can negatively impact the workplace.

    Chronic complaints, isolation, tension and gossip can be symptoms of unresolved or unhealthy anger. This training will focus on assisting you in developing an understanding of your anger, the common causes of anger, how to work through anger in a productive manner and discuss the four steps to anger management.

    Participants will learn 3 common sources of workplace negativity, how to steer clear of them and how to keep a co-worker’s negative mood from affecting their own outlook and performance.

  • How to Develop a "Difficult People" Immunity

    Why do we need to understand difficult people?  How can that be simplified?

    Attend this presentation and learn what makes difficult people “tick” and how attendee’s can develop immunity from the effects of difficult behavior. There is no need to “sit and suffer”!

    Understanding the sources and the rewards of difficult behavior will help attendees’ gain a new perspective. As a result, new options for dealing with difficult situations will become more apparent and the risk of becoming a victim of the difficult behaviors will be reduced.

  • Dealing With Conflict

    Conflict is a normal part of life and a natural occurrence in interpersonal relationships. 

    When conflict emerges in the workplace it has the potential of interfering with productivity and creating morale problems.

    Participants in this program will have an opportunity to examine the sources of conflict and the behavioral characteristics that intensify or prolong conflict.  Because people have different ways of dealing with conflict situations, a group exercise will allow participants to experience the various styles of conflict management and resolution.  Effective communication and listening skills will be discussed as well as tips for handling conflict.

  • Creating a Culture of Respect

    In today’s workplace so much depends on being able to work well with differences. 

    Understanding diversity and learning to welcome the differences in the workplace is the focus of this training. 

    When employees feel valued and part of a team that is working for a common goal, harmony results. Learning to value the unique contributions each employee/co-worker brings into the workplace in spite of the diversity/differences that exist is the key to developing good work relationships.   • When You Need to Talk… An EAP Overview

    Participants will learn the components of an EAP.

    They learn how and when to access the service.  The benefits of utilizing the EAP are stressed as well as the standards of confidentiality.

  • Where to Step In: EAP Training for Supervisors and Managers
    Participants will learn the components of an EAP,  how to identify employee performance problems, develop intervention techniques to encourage improvement, understand the difference between coaching and counseling an employee and learn the steps involved in making a formal referral to EAP.
    Included is a group exercise practicing the Six Step Intervention Technique for dealing with a troubled employee situation.  
  • Understanding and Averting Workplace Violence

    As violent crime increases many companies recognize that they too are at risk.

    An act of violence could come from an employee, a customer or an employee’s family member.

    This seminar is designed to educate employees on the signs and symptoms of potential violence and to learn skills to diffuse conflict. The seminar can be modified to address the concerns of management.

  • Recognizing and Preventing Substance Abuse in the Workplace

    This seminar educates supervisors about the effects of substance abuse in the workplace.

    Supervisors learn to identify the signs and symptoms of substance abuse. They learn how to utilize the EAP and other company resources to help them deal with an employee with a substance abuse problem.

    Everyone feels the effects of stress. Stress is a fact of life.

    As women we have many roles: spouse, mother, caregiver, friend, and employee. With all we have going on in our lives, it seems almost impossible to find ways to de-stress. But it’s important to find those ways.

    Your health depends on it.

U.S. Department of Transportation Training

  • Driver Drug & Alcohol Awareness

    DOT mandates that employers provide CDL drivers with training regarding alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, PCP, amphetamines and opiates and the effects of these substances on user health generally as well as on specific driving-related dangers.

    This program is provided by a certified substance abuse professional (SAP).

  • Drug & Alcohol Education for Supervisory Personnel

    DOT requires that supervisors of CDL drivers receive a minimum of sixty (60) minutes of training about the effects of alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, PCP, amphetamines and opiates. 

    DOT also requires an additional sixty (60) minutes of training in regard to how to identify (via observed and documented behaviors), approach and refer CDL drivers who may be under the influence of these or other substances.

    This program is provided by a certified substance abuse professional (SAP).
