Women and Stress

Stress is a fact of life for all of us.  However, women have some unique challenges with stress due our numerous roles; spouse, mother, caregiver, friend, and employee.  Unfortunately, many women also have a difficult time with self-care due to the constant pull toward caretaking others.  This often leads to a build up of stress and a deterioration of our physical health and emotional well being.

In this workshop, you will learn the science behind the female stress reaction and the healing power of the "tend and befriend" response to stress. We'll practice simple relaxation techniques to decrease the intensity of a stress reaction and strengthen your ability to "turn off" the negative effects of stress.

Conflict is a normal part of life and a natural occurrence in interpersonal relationships.  When conflict emerges in the workplace it has the potential of interfering with productivity and creating morale problems.  Participants in this program will have an opportunity to examine the sources of conflict and the behavioral characteristics that intensify or prolong conflict.  Because people have different ways of dealing with conflict situations, a group exercise will allow participants to experience the various styles of conflict management and resolution.  Effective communication and listening skills will be discussed as well as tips for handling conflict.
